The Jewel (Om Mani Peme Hung)

Updated: Aug 4, 2020

I love this mantra and I am so grateful for having been assigned to sing it. “The Jewel” encapsulates the essence of Buddhist teachings. Using artistic licence, I wrote down a version as pronounced in Tibetan. Recitation of Om Mani Peme Hung helps us to achieve perfection in the six practices of generosity, ethics, patience, diligence, renunciation and wisdom.

In chanting this mantra, we are carried to a state where we can understand the sacred jewel of true wisdom that is tucked within the preciously folded lotus petals of our heart. God lives in our heart and we should give him enough room within us. Chanting mantras, we enliven and enlighten ourselves while taking the whole world with us.

My composition reflects a new form of interpretation of this mantra that has been given to me. I hope you can feel and relate to the love and wholeheartedness I put into my version. It is my mission to make people curious about chanting mantras and to serve as a gateway to this type of sacred music. Please note, however: I am just an artist, not a guru.
